Getting Started
Yes, we do. Our process starts with a 10–15 minute Meet & Greet session at our facility. Please book your Meet & Greet session on our website at hipoochdnb.com.
A Meet & Greet is a short (10–15 minute) session where we introduce your dog to our facility, staff, and other dogs (if appropriate). It is a chance for you to see the inside and outside of our facility. We will explain our daycare and boarding services, and you can discuss any special needs your dog may have to ensure they have a safe and positive experience during their stay. During that meeting, we will provide you with a coupon code for a free daycare session.
Please bring your dog, their vaccination records, and a collar and leash.
During this session, we will spend time getting to know your dog and introducing them to our pack. We will carefully observe their behavior and comfort level at our facility. At the end of the session, we will provide you with feedback on whether we think we are a good fit for your dog. You can then decide and book your dog for future appointments.
That's normal! Some dogs take time to adjust to a new environment. We observe your dog's behavior carefully, give them breaks as needed, and work with you to develop a plan that ensures your dog's comfort and safety. We have experience with over 100 dogs, including anxious dogs. We know how to approach and engage with dogs with various levels of anxiety. At the end of the first daycare session, if we see signs of anxiety, we will discuss a plan for managing and improving your dog's anxiety.
Yes, you may choose to combine the Meet & Greet with your first free daycare session. Please let us know when booking your Meet & Greet session.
If you have already visited our facility for the Meet & Greet session, you should have received an invitation from us to sign up on our website. Once you sign up and complete the intake form, you will be redirected to your dashboard where you can book and manage your appointments.
Dog Acceptance & Requirements
We accept all pooch sizes from small to large breeds. We evaluate all dogs for behavior and fit before accepting them for long-term daycare or boarding. This ensures that our dogs are happy when they are here and comfortable with other well-behaved dogs.
Currently, we only accept dogs that enjoy being part of a pack and play nicely with others. A great way to know whether our daycare and boarding is a good fit for your dog is to come and meet us and use the first free daycare. We will provide feedback after the first daycare session.
We evaluate our pooch guests for behavior and ability to follow basic commands. Unfortunately, we won't be able to accept guests with aggressive or other serious behavioral challenges such as severe anxiety or fear. We want to make sure all of our guests are comfortable and safe while in our care.
Yes, all our guests should keep their health and vaccination records up to date. All guests should be up to date with their Bordetella/Kennel Cough, Parvo/Distemper, and Rabies vaccinations. Our guests should be free of fleas and parasites. Please ensure regular deworming and flea medication administration. Guests who show signs of diarrhea, vomiting, green or yellow discharge from eyes or nose, unusual sneezing or coughing, ticks, or worms will not be accepted or will be immediately sent home.
For daycare or boarding stays: 1. A collar or body harness. 2. Optional items: treats if your dog is allergic to beef and lamb, and food if you'd like us to feed them during the day. 3. Not required: leash or toys.
Please ensure you bring the following items for your dog's overnight stays: 1. Food: Enough of your dog's regular food for the duration of their stay, plus a little extra in case of delays. 2. Medications: Any necessary medications your dog requires, along with clear instructions for administration. 3. Optional items: A bed or blanket to help your dog feel at home.

Services & Facility
Being part of a pack at our doggy daycare is a transformative experience for dogs, tapping into their natural instincts and desire for socialization, hierarchy, and companionship. For many dogs, interacting within a pack can significantly enhance their mental state and play behavior. This social structure helps dogs get back to their natural instincts, catering to their inherent pack mentality, which is crucial for their emotional well-being. At HiPooch, while we emphasize the importance of pack integration for social and behavioral development, we also understand the importance of individual care and comfort. That's why we ensure each dog receives plenty of individual care, ensuring that every dog enjoys the best of both worlds. Our commitment is to provide a balanced environment where your dog can thrive socially while also feeling safe, loved, and attended to as an individual. This approach helps in minimizing stress and promoting a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted canine companion.
Our latest regular pickup time is 6:00 PM. If you're running a little behind, we can accommodate pickup until 6:30 PM for an additional charge. If you're unable to arrive by 6:30 PM, we can transition your dog to overnight boarding. We'll make sure they're comfortable and feed them dinner (beef kibble). You can then pick them up the next day during our regular hours. Once your dog is picked up, our website will automatically update your booking from daycare to boarding and adjust the fees accordingly.
Yes, we do. Please ensure the medication is clearly labeled with your dog's name, dosage, and detailed instructions. Take a few moments at drop-off to fill out our medication administration form so we are informed about the schedule and administration instructions. Our team will carefully follow your instructions. We can administer medication to your dog while they are in our care, as long as it is not for a contagious illness. For the safety of all dogs, we cannot accept dogs with contagious conditions. If your dog requires more complex medical care, please let us know in advance so we can confirm whether we're able to accommodate their needs.
Our facility is equipped with air conditioning. The room temperature is carefully maintained year-round, with heating and cooling systems adjusted to stay within a comfortable range for all dogs.
Outdoor Activities
Yes, we take dogs for outdoor hiking. However, outdoor hiking or walking is not part of our guaranteed service and is offered as a complimentary service.
No, outdoor hiking or walking is not part of our guaranteed service. It is offered as a complimentary service and is not guaranteed for every visit. This largely depends on our daily schedule and the weather and trail conditions.
No, we only take dogs that have good recall, previous experience with off-leash hiking, and are medium to large breeds. Choosing which dogs go hiking is at our discretion based on our experience with the dog. Parents have the option to opt out of this complimentary service when booking their pooch.
Yes, all of our outdoor hikes are supervised by trained staff members. We prioritize the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care. We keep new dogs on leash for the first few times and/or until we feel confident that they have developed good off-leash hiking skills, including walking with the pack and excellent recall.
Outdoor hiking is a complimentary service and is not guaranteed for every visit. It largely depends on weather conditions and only takes place during weekdays. On weekends or during rain, snow, or other weather events, we do not take dogs hiking. From time to time, the hiking trail may also be unsafe due to wildlife activity, which will prevent us from going.
Yes, while your dog will enjoy playtime with other dogs and hike in nature, there is potential risk of injury if they participate in these activities. Despite HiPooch staff's supervision, incidental injuries are unavoidable to some degree in these high-intensity activities. HiPooch staff will provide first aid or emergency care if the resulting injury requires immediate attention. However, HiPooch does not accept liability for treatment of such injuries and/or aftercare. If you opt out of these activities, your dog will not participate in outside playtime with other dogs and/or will not accompany the pack on hikes in nature.
Health & Safety
Very much like your own house and any other care environment, while we strive to create the safest possible environment for all our furry guests, the nature of play and social interaction of dogs is not 100% immune to injuries. This means that sometimes injuries such as (but not limited to) skin punctures, scrapes, or other types of injury resulting from play can occur while playing or socializing.
Here's how we handle the situation: 1. Immediate Care: Our staff are trained to provide prompt and appropriate first aid to address any minor injuries right away. 2. Notification: We will inform you of the incident and the steps we've taken in response. 3. Veterinary Attention: For any injury beyond a minor scrape or bruise that might require veterinarian attention, we immediately inform you of the next steps for your dog's care depending on the urgency and your instructions. 4. Review and Prevention: While we have never had any serious injuries occur in our care, rest assured that we will conduct a thorough review of any incident to understand how it happened and implement any necessary changes to our protocols or environment to prevent similar incidents in the future. Your pet's safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we are committed to ensuring that our daycare remains a happy and healthy place for all dogs to play, learn, and socialize.
Dogs sometimes get minor scratches during play, just like kids on a playground. We supervise closely and separate dogs if play gets too rough. However, dogs don't have hands and fingers to tag or grab when playing — they usually try to show affection and play with their mouth. While playful biting during playtime and wrestling is completely normal behavior for dogs and mostly harmless, at times those razor-sharp teeth and nails may leave a scratch or bite mark on friends. If we observe the injury, we clean the area and monitor it, and we will always inform you right away about anything we notice. If we do not notice the injury before your dog goes home, please clean the area with a dog-safe antiseptic cloth and consult with your vet if concerned.
Dog Behavior & Well-being
That's completely normal! Daycare is very stimulating — they're playing, socializing, and exploring most of the day. Mental stimulation combined with physical activity can make them more tired, and as a result, they may sleep more at home, which is usually a good sign they had a fun day. We also ensure that all of our dogs get proper rest and sleep time while in our care. However, they may experience more than usual mental and physical stimulation while in our care. Some dogs may show temporary signs of depression after being separated from the pack if they have stayed with us for a few days. These signs may include sleeping more or changes in eating or drinking habits and should last only a day or two.
We normally keep dogs together during the day, but sometimes we may have to separate them for their comfort and safety. This is usually temporary until they calm down and get enough rest. For example, a dog might need a break if they seem overstimulated, stressed, or have health concerns (like knee, hip, or joint issues). If we have to separate them for those reasons, it is never a punishment, and dogs are not left out — it's simply to ensure they stay safe and continue having positive interactions with other dogs. Your dog was around others, and you may still see your dog playing with others in videos and updates throughout the day.
Dogs can behave differently in group settings. New environments, new dogs, and excitement can bring out different energy levels. We monitor their behavior closely and adjust group activities as needed.
It's normal for dogs to be tired, hungry, or thirsty after a full day at daycare. They spend the day playing, socializing, and exploring — both mentally and physically — which uses a lot of energy. We make sure your dog receives meals as instructed and always has access to fresh water throughout the day. We also provide the recommended amount of treats during the day. It is normal for dogs to try to eat or drink more than usual when they get back home. This does not mean they did not eat or drink at daycare — it is normal dog behavior once they are reunited with their family at home. If you notice serious weight loss or unusual behavior, we recommend visiting your veterinarian, as there might be other underlying issues at play. We track all dogs' eating habits, water intake, and general health while they are in our care, and we will contact you immediately if any concerns arise.
We post pictures and videos on our Instagram and Facebook stories and reels (@hipoochdnb). We do not send personal messages, updates, or photos. Only in case of an emergency or concerns may we contact the primary or emergency contacts on file.
